Ballet - One year later...

Ballet has been good. I am taking three classes a week, and enjoying every class. Best of all - I know most of the steps because I've been taking it longer than the rest of the Grade 5 girls. It feels good to know stuff - to be ahead =)

The only thing that I really have to work on is my flexibility.

This is what I can do:
- I can touch my toes (when doing the curl down, or sitting down and touching toes)
- I can do my splits (right left) (it's not perfect as I am still bending my legs slightly)
- I can do my bridges! (when i started ballet, i couldn't do this at all. I attribute this to stronger arm muscles
- I can take my leg in front of me and extend it sideways (need to not bend the supporting leg though)
- I can do my centre split (but need to widen more)
- pirouttes ( i can do it, when i focus on my arm, and spot head) (if i don't ahaha...i just fall!) (but certainly still a WIP)

What I can't do yet:
- I can't do my arabesque with higher legs, and straigther back
- I can't go all the way down, and do my splits as in, it's perfect, no peek holes
- i can't arch as well (i'm still building on this)

Here are more photos of inspiration to me:

(1st left) : this is a real nice pose.. i can't do it 90, but i can do it...45! =)
(2nd photo, middle): I believe this is called ponche? u need tons of poise, strength and control...
(3rd photo, right): This is arabesque with attitude on pointe (you see her, so composed - you have to have a very strong back, strong arches, metatuscle, and flexibility....=) so pretty!)

Meanwhile,
I am still training in soft leather ballet shoes, I prefer this much more than pointe. Somehow, pointe is so painful! It's like your toes are stuck in a mouse trap - and I blister super easily.

My goals:
I aim to be more flexible, train my arches till it's this good!
And I aim to take my Grade 5 exams next year (2007).
I was told that I could go for Intermediate Foundation, but I believe you got to get the basics right before anything else!

Ballet is a beautiful art which encourages you to keep your poise and keep healthy - for those who are adults, and think that it's way to late to do so - try it! It's really really very rewarding...

PR = $$$$$$$$$ = Mid Life Crisis because of PEOPLE

Friday Slack -off

I am currently slacking at the office =)
It's a Friday and I feeel soo much like relaxing..which i am..ahaha!
To the tune of many who are getting married...congrats!
And..ahem..I might be a bridesmaid next year... yay! ...don't ask me when it's my turn..nonono....

This is turning out to be a shallow post..
other than that =)

Busy Months

what else have i done..ive been real busy for the last June - August period..
was doing prep work for HK..and it been a real good learning experience. I can safely say that I certainly know much more about radio campaigns, print campaigns, contest promotions.
In fact, i believe i am doing the job of an ad agency by placing different ads/advertorials/ running promotions.

It's quite fun too, because - i get to organize events, work with different people - and call on the Media...at which I have made some recent very cool friends.

$$$$$$$ in PR ...YES YES YES!

To boot, yesterday, a friend mentioned that he had this new staff come in - and she was formerly doing inhouse PR for one of the top beauty brands. I believe, to drive to work in a BMW, and get paid a $$$$$ figure - I have some glimmer of hope to expect some form of good & great remuneration and benefits once I pave my way to the top..FINGERS CROSSED.

Apparently she had a mid life crisis, and hated the hours - lack of seeing family and kids and now wanted a change, and was going to dive (nose first) into NGO work - mind you not dealing with beautiful faces or anything to do with tightening your pores, bum, removing lumps of fat - but was for the good cause of animal and forest preservation.

MNC vs NGO - I am MNC skewed & You go PR lady!

(Ps: I've volunteered for that NGO before - and it's way..messy. Not my type of work. Sorry..i no NGO kind. I ruthless MNC or private company kinda person).

To her credit, she's done a great job - with her portfolio being once again PR (public relations if you're reading the blog and still don't get what this two alphabets joinedtogether means) as well as fund raising. She got the NGO free spots, commercial airtime on TV, participation in some high end fund fair, a dinner etc as well as good write ups in the press.

Honestly...it boils down to C-O-N-T-A-C-T-S.

People - The Root of all Good & Evil, what does God say?

Relationships with other people. How you get along etc.

It's either you like or you don't like that person..I always believe first encounters tell loads..especially for client meetings. You can gage a lot from whether you would be able to gel with the person.

Anyways, in my course of work, I do admit that I have become more:

- untrusting of what people say/sceptic
eg: i never trust when people keep nodding their heads, and say YAH YAH YAH! or CAN! CAN! CAN!
this type of response gives me the jitters and i would always have a PLAN B for justincase situations
Out of which in these situations, 60% , PLAN B has to be carried out.
BEWARE!

- savvy
eg: When you meet difficult people, whom you know you HAVE to build a relationship with for the sake of the
business, if not you will suffer - I have had to literally be nice, accomodating and ahem - extremely patient
not to mention, be sweet on the words I use. This is quite a task, and I am learning it!

Sometimes I wonder, wow....how much more "ku wak" must you get to survive..
hahaha...im probably just a beginner compared to others..
but it's quite surreal too..like..is this what God/Jesus wants me to do? To be? Is this how I am supposed to act..

As of now, I have not been struck by a thunderbolt. I guess God is still holding his peace..=)
